Life in Chronos Empty Life in Chronos

The townspeople of Chronos are more or less peaceful; or they were until the time shifts started. These random jumps back in time cause people to forget recent events and relationships, resulting in a lot of conflicts between people. The town population isn’t huge, so most people know each other and neighbours are often willing to help those in need.

Government: The town is run by a Mayor and their assistant, who is often their partner or another family member. Politics are a dangerous business and those involved prefer to work with family because they think it’s safer.

Education: There are two options for education in Chronos. There is a school to the East, which covers every grade/year level, as only those living in Chronos really attend. Otherwise if a person chooses not to travel out to the school, they can be home schooled. A Horse cart travels between the school and the gate from East Chronos twice before and twice after school. It is kept in a small stable/house at the school where the driver lives. There are no colleges or universities. Jobs are given to those who open the business/store themselves or when a person is trained by the owner of a business/store, like an apprentice.

Out of town communication: While there are phones that work within Chronos, they are unable to connect with outside towns thanks to the magical interference caused by the time shifts. To communicate with outside towns, a person must travel out themselves, or send letters. The four surrounding areas around Chronos also have no outside communication, and can’t be called from Chronos’ phones either. There are however, post offices in each of the four areas. They each have a special post person to deliver mail to post boxes just outside the gates into Chronos.

Religion: Chronos has a shrine, but there is no real religion in the town. Most people simply pray or leave charms, hoping for good luck or for illnesses to end. Some however do believe there is a god, but not everyone agrees it is the same one. There are no fights or hate caused by this though; there is no discrimination here. Most people just pray to an unknown god they named after the town of Chronos; hoping it will cause the time shifts to stop.
